Lane8
Terms of Use
Lane8 is a training platform that swimming clubs use to plan sessions, run training, and enter competitions. These terms are the agreement between you and us for using it — on the web and in the iOS and Android apps. They cover who may use Lane8, subscriptions and payment, what you may and may not do, and the legal bits we have to be clear about. Please read them.

About these terms
Lane8 is operated by Drishti Works Pvt Ltd (“Lane8”, “we”, “us”), Ground floor, The Gold Coin Co-Op Housing Society Ltd., B-1-G, 35–35A, Pt. M. M. Malviya Road, Tardeo, Mumbai 400 034, India.
These Terms of Use apply to the Lane8 web app and the Lane8 iOS and Android apps. They are one agreement, so you are held to the same terms wherever you signed up. They work alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we hold and what you can ask us to do about it. By using Lane8 you agree to both.
If you use Lane8 as a coach or on behalf of a club, additional terms — the coach agreement and, where it applies, the commission agreement — also apply. Those are presented to you separately when you take on that role.
Who can use Lane8
- There is no minimum age to use Lane8, but a swimmer under 18 must not set up their own account. An adult does — a coach invites the guardian, or a guardian signs up and adds the swimmer — and a linked guardian consents and oversees the account. The swimmer then holds their own login and uses the app themselves; a 10-year-old logging their own training is something we want to support. If you are under 18, use Lane8 only through an account a parent or guardian has set up for you.
- You need an account. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your sign-in details secure. Tell us at support@lane8.app if you think someone else is using your account.
- Honest details. Give accurate information and keep it current. Do not impersonate anyone or create an account for someone else without the authority to do so.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that puts a child at risk, or that we are required to act on by law.
Agreeing to these terms — adults and minors
If you are an adult (18 or over), you agree to these terms for yourself when you create or use your account.
A minor cannot enter a binding agreement, so we do not ask a swimmer under 18 to accept these terms. Instead:
- the guardian accepts these terms on the minor’s behalf when they set up or link the child’s account; and
- the minor sees a plain-language notice explaining, in terms they can understand, what the app does and the basic rules — there is nothing for them to sign.
A guardian who accepts on a child’s behalf is confirming they have the authority to do so for that child.
Clubs, coaches and athletes
Lane8 is organised around clubs. Coaches plan and deliver training to the athletes at their own club; guardians oversee their linked children; athletes see and record their own training.
- Access follows the real coaching relationship. A coach sees the athletes they coach at their own club — not athletes at other clubs. Guardians see their own children. This is described in full in the Privacy Policy.
- Coaches agree to additional obligations — confidentiality, using data only for coaching, and a safeguarding declaration. Being a coach on Lane8 is a position of trust, and misusing a child’s data is a serious breach of these terms.
Acceptable use
When you use Lane8, you agree not to:
- use it to harm, harass, exploit or endanger anyone, especially a child;
- access, collect or use data about athletes you have no legitimate coaching or guardian relationship with;
- upload content you do not have the right to share, or that is unlawful, abusive, or infringes someone else’s rights;
- try to break, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to the service or anyone else’s account;
- use the service to send spam or unsolicited marketing; or
- use Lane8 in a way that breaks any law that applies to you.
We can remove content and suspend access to keep the service and its users — particularly children — safe.
Content you provide
- You keep ownership of the content you add — training logs, times, notes, measurements, videos and messages. You give us the permission we need to store and display that content so the service works: to show a coach their athlete’s session, a guardian their child’s record, and so on.
- Technique-review video is stored in linked Google Drive storage. The athlete, or a linked parent or guardian for a child, connects the Google Drive account used for their videos. We hold the references needed to play them back. Device playback caches and temporary copies for paid analysis are described in the Privacy Policy.
- You are responsible for the content you provide being accurate and something you are entitled to share.
Connected AI clients
Lane8 lets you connect an external AI assistant to your own Lane8 data if you choose to. You must be 18 or over to use this feature. Connecting an assistant sends your data to a third party you have chosen — a decision a child cannot validly make — so it is not for use on a minor’s account. When you connect an assistant, you are authorising that third party to access the data you grant it, under that third party’s own terms — not ours.
Subscriptions, trials and payment
Some Lane8 features are part of a paid subscription. The following applies when you subscribe.
- Free trial. Where a trial is offered, you get the trial period shown to you at sign-up. That period is your chance to evaluate the paid features. If you do not cancel before it ends, the subscription continues and you are charged.
- Auto-renewal. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period — monthly or annually, as you chose — until you cancel. If you choose an annual plan, that annual commitment is made clear to you at the point of purchase, because the annual price is the trade for committing for the year.
- Prices include tax. Displayed prices are inclusive of GST, in line with Indian consumer practice.
- Who charges you depends on where you subscribe. On the web, Lane8 is the seller and payment is handled by Razorpay; you can request a GST invoice for a payment by contacting support. On the iPhone app, purchases go through the Apple App Store, and Apple is the seller — Apple bills you and handles the tax, and we receive the proceeds net of Apple’s cut. For an App Store purchase your receipt comes from Apple, not from Lane8.
- Card details. Your card or banking details are entered directly with Razorpay or Apple. Lane8 never stores them.
- A note on coaches. Your coach may earn a referral fee if you subscribe. This applies only to web subscriptions and is funded from our margin — it never changes the price you pay.
Cancellation and refunds
- You can cancel any time, and cancellation stops the auto-renewal. Your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for; it is not cut off immediately.
- Where you cancel depends on where you subscribed: to cancel a web subscription, contact support and we will stop the auto-renewal; an iPhone subscription is cancelled through your Apple ID / App Store settings, because Apple manages that billing.
- We do not offer refunds on either rail. Payments already made — including a renewal — are not refunded, and access simply runs to the end of the paid period. The trial period shown to you at sign-up is your opportunity to decide before you are charged. Nothing here affects any right you have that cannot be excluded under the law that applies to you.
Availability and changes to the service
We work to keep Lane8 running, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption or free of faults, and we may change, add or remove features over time. We will not remove something you are paying for without a fair alternative or, where appropriate, letting you cancel.
Our intellectual property
The Lane8 app, its design, and its software are ours (or our licensors’). We give you a personal, limited, non-transferable permission to use the app for its intended purpose while these terms apply. That permission does not let you copy, resell, or build a competing product from it.
Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Lane8 is a training and administration tool, not medical, health or safety advice. Coaching decisions, and decisions about an athlete’s health, training load, pain or injury, rest with the people responsible for that athlete. Wellbeing and injury information exists in Lane8 to support coaching, not to replace professional judgement or care.
Except where the law says otherwise, Lane8 is provided “as is”, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from your misuse of the service or from content provided by users. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Apple App Store — additional terms
These terms apply to your use of the Lane8 iOS app obtained through the Apple App Store. If anything here conflicts with Apple’s own terms, Apple’s terms govern that conflict, but only for the App Store version.
- These terms are between you and Lane8 only, not with Apple. Apple is not a party to them and is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Your licence to use the iOS app is a limited, non-transferable licence to run it on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules in Apple’s terms.
- Maintenance and support for the app are our responsibility, not Apple’s. Apple has no obligation to provide any support for the app.
- Warranty. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple gives no warranty for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price to you (if any); beyond that refund, Apple has no other warranty obligation, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses are our responsibility, not Apple’s.
- Product and legal claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app — including product-liability claims, a claim that the app fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer-protection or privacy law.
- Intellectual-property claims. If a third party claims the app infringes their intellectual-property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
- Legal compliance. By using the app you confirm you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as “terrorist-supporting”, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Contact. For any questions or complaints about the app, contact us at support@lane8.app.
- Apple as third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and on your acceptance Apple has the right to enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Children’s safety and privacy
Most Lane8 athletes are children, and some of what we hold — how a swimmer feels, where they hurt — is genuinely sensitive. How we collect, protect and share that data, who can see it, and the rights a guardian can exercise on a child’s behalf, are all set out in the Privacy Policy. That policy is part of the deal you agree to here.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Mumbai, Maharashtra have jurisdiction over any dispute, without prejudice to any protection the law of your own country gives you as a consumer. Lane8 is designed for use in India; we determine each new country’s requirements before offering the service there.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Where a change materially affects you, we will make you aware of it. Continuing to use Lane8 after a change means you accept the updated terms; where the change needs a fresh agreement, we will ask for it.
